Valve Jackets & Removable Insulation
Bespoke thermal valve jackets and removable insulation covers that protect heat loss without restricting access for maintenance.
Quick answer
What is valve jackets & removable insulation?
Valve jackets are removable insulated covers fitted around valves, flanges, pumps and strainers to cut heat loss from fittings that must stay accessible. Contractors need them on heating, steam and process systems where fixed insulation would block maintenance. We measure, fabricate and fit bespoke jackets on plant rooms and industrial sites across the UK.
The work in detail
The work starts with a site measure of each valve, flange, pump and strainer. Jackets are then fabricated to those dimensions and fitted with straps, hook-and-loop or draw cords chosen for the application.
Each jacket is built from a mineral-fibre insulation core with a coated glass-cloth outer face suited to the service temperature. Jackets can be labelled so maintenance teams can identify and refit them correctly.
Fitting follows TICA guidance for the insulation of valves and fittings, and thicknesses follow the project specification. Our operatives hold CSCS and NVQ Thermal Insulation qualifications.
The price covers survey, fabrication and fitting. Fixed pipework insulation between fittings is a separate item and is quoted on its own if you need it.
Quotations are produced from your M&E drawings, valve schedules and specification, or from a free site survey. There is no fixed online pricing because every jacket is made to measure.
What's included
- Bespoke thermal valve jackets
- Removable insulation jackets for fittings
- Pump and strainer covers
- Flange covers
- Replacement and refurbishment
Typical applications
- · Plant rooms and energy centres
- · Industrial steam systems
- · Process plants
- · District heating valves
Why this matters
Valves, flanges and fittings are often left uninsulated because of access requirements — but they're significant heat-loss points. Removable jackets close that gap without compromising maintenance access.
Frequently asked questions
- Are valve jackets reusable?
- Yes — they're designed to be removed and refitted as part of normal maintenance, with secure fastenings that survive repeated use.
- Are they made to measure?
- Yes. Jackets are fabricated to fit specific valves, flanges and fittings rather than supplied as generic covers.
- Can you work from our M&E drawings and specification?
- Yes. Send the drawings, valve schedules and specification and we will price from them. Where information is missing we flag it in the quotation rather than guess.
- Do you work as a subcontractor?
- Yes. Most of our work is as a specialist subcontractor to main contractors and M&E contractors, working under their programme and site rules.
- Do you work nationwide?
- Yes. We are based in Milton Keynes and install valve jackets across the whole of the UK.
- What materials are the jackets made from?
- A mineral-fibre insulation core with a coated glass-cloth outer face, specified to suit the service temperature. Fixings are straps, hook-and-loop or draw cords chosen for the application.
- What standards do you work to?
- We fit to TICA guidance and the project specification. Operatives hold CSCS and NVQ Thermal Insulation qualifications, with IPAF and PASMA for access.
- What are the lead times for bespoke valve jackets?
- Lead times depend on the number of fittings and current workshop schedule. We confirm a firm turnaround with your written quotation once we have the site measurements.
- Can you take over part-finished work?
- Yes. We survey what is already fitted, check it against the specification and complete the remaining jackets.
- How is the work quoted?
- From your drawings, schedules and specification, or from a free site survey. Each quotation itemises the fittings covered so you can check it against the schedule.
- Can you work out of hours or in phases?
- Yes. We regularly work in live plant rooms and can phase fitting around shutdowns, night works or floor-by-floor programmes.
