Removable Valve Jacket Insulation for Boiler Rooms
High-temperature removable jackets for the valves, flanges and steam fittings that make boiler rooms hostile to fixed insulation — safe to touch, quick to remove.
Quick answer
Why do boiler room fittings need removable jackets?
Boiler room valves and flanges run at temperatures that burn in seconds, yet they need frequent servicing. Fixed insulation is stripped for every visit and rarely refitted. SR Thermal Services measures and makes high-temperature removable jackets for each fitting, keeping surfaces safe to touch without blocking maintenance.
Boiler rooms concentrate the hottest fittings in the building. Steam and HWS valves, flanged joints, pressure-reducing sets, blowdown lines and condensate fittings all run hot enough to injure. Insulation brings those surfaces down to safe-touch levels, but the fittings still need regular access.
Fixed insulation on a steam trap or control valve lasts until the first service visit. Once it is cut away, the bare fitting loses heat and becomes a burn risk again. Removable jackets break that cycle: each one lifts off in seconds and goes straight back on after the work.
Jackets for boiler room duty are built for temperature. A quilted high-temperature insulation core sits inside a coated fabric outer rated for the service, closed with hook-and-loop, drawcord or straps. Thickness follows the operating temperature, based on BS 5422 and TICA guidance.
Every jacket is measured to the individual fitting and labelled to its location. Y-strainers that need regular blowdown, trap assemblies, flanged joints and pump volutes each get a jacket shaped to their real geometry, so refitting is unambiguous for whoever services the plant.
We work as a subcontractor to main contractors and M&E contractors, on new boiler rooms and live heating plant across the UK. Quotations are prepared from your valve schedules and drawings, with a free site measure before manufacture.
Frequently asked questions
Can jackets be fitted on live heating plant?
Usually yes — jackets are fitted by hand without hot works. Where a system must be isolated first, we agree the isolation with your mechanical contractor in advance.
Are the jackets rated for steam temperatures?
Yes. The insulation core and outer fabric are selected for the operating temperature of each fitting, following the project specification and TICA guidance.
Do jackets really improve safety?
Yes. A correctly specified jacket brings the outer surface down to safe-touch levels, so bare steam and HWS fittings no longer present a burn risk to anyone working in the room.
How are the jackets quoted?
Per fitting, from your valve schedule and a site measure. You receive a written quotation listing every jacket by location before manufacture starts.
Do you work nationwide?
Yes. We are based in Milton Keynes and deliver boiler room jacket packages across the UK as a subcontractor.
