Ductwork Insulation for Commercial Buildings & Offices
Thermal and acoustic insulation for supply and extract ductwork in offices and commercial buildings — installed in ceiling voids alongside fit-out programmes.
Quick answer
Why insulate ductwork in an office building?
Office ductwork runs above occupied ceilings, where heat loss wastes energy and fan noise breaks out into workspaces. Thermal insulation holds air temperature and stops condensation; acoustic treatment controls noise. SR Thermal Services installs both within fit-out and refurbishment programmes, nationwide.
In a commercial building almost every metre of ductwork lives in a ceiling void above someone's desk. Supply air that loses heat in the void arrives off-temperature, and extract ductwork carrying cold air can sweat and stain the ceiling tiles below.
Noise travels the same routes. Fan and airflow noise breaks out through duct walls into open-plan offices and meeting rooms. Where the specification calls for it, acoustic insulation keeps breakout noise within the design limits.
Timing is set by the fit-out. Ductwork insulation has to be complete before ceilings close, so we coordinate with the drylining and ceiling trades and work to the M&E contractor's floor-by-floor programme. On refurbishments we phase around occupied floors instead.
We install the specified materials — foil-faced mineral wool wrap, phenolic boards or Rockwool and Isover systems — with sealed joints on cold services. External and rooftop runs are finished in weatherproof cladding or PIB as part of the same package.
We work as a subcontractor to main contractors and M&E contractors on new build, Cat A, Cat B and refurbishment projects across the UK. Quotations are prepared from your drawings and duct schedules, confirmed by a free survey.
Frequently asked questions
Can you work around other fit-out trades?
Yes — that is the normal environment for this work. We programme with the M&E contractor and coordinate with ceiling and drylining trades so insulation is complete before voids close.
Can you work in occupied offices?
Yes. Work is phased floor by floor or out of hours, agreed with the building team, with work areas kept clean and contained.
Do you install acoustic as well as thermal insulation?
Yes. Thermal insulation controls heat loss and condensation; acoustic treatment reduces breakout noise. Both are installed where the specification calls for them.
Do you work from our drawings and duct schedules?
Yes. Quotations are prepared from issued drawings and duct schedules, then confirmed with a free site survey before work starts.
Do you work nationwide?
Yes. We are based in Milton Keynes and deliver commercial ductwork packages across the UK as a subcontractor.
