Aluminium Cladding for Boiler Rooms

Aluminium-clad insulation for boiler room pipework and plant — a durable, wipe-clean metal finish over high-temperature insulation, measured and fitted on site.

Quick answer

Why clad boiler room insulation in aluminium?

Boiler rooms combine high-temperature pipework with constant maintenance traffic, so soft insulation finishes split and fail quickly. Aluminium cladding protects the insulation beneath, keeps hot surfaces safe to touch and gives a clean, wipeable finish. SR Thermal Services fabricates and fits cladding on site, nationwide.

A boiler room concentrates the hottest services in the building — flow and return headers, steam and condensate lines and HWS distribution. Surface temperatures on bare or damaged pipework can burn in seconds. Insulation brings exposed surfaces down to safe-touch levels, and cladding keeps that protection intact.

Where pipework runs at reachable height, we install insulation to thicknesses based on the operating temperature, following BS 5422 and TICA guidance. The aluminium outer provides a smooth, hard surface that cannot be snagged open or torn during routine maintenance.

Boiler rooms take punishment: trolleys, toolboxes, replacement plant and washdowns. Soft finishes split and fall away within months. Aluminium cladding — cut, beaded and banded to fit — survives routine contact and wipes clean, keeping the room presentable for inspections.

On chilled or condensate-prone services, a sealed vapour barrier under the cladding keeps moisture away from the steel. That prevents corrosion under insulation, which otherwise goes unnoticed until the pipe fails. Cladding can carry identification banding and flow arrows to match the site's labelling scheme.

Every run is measured on site and fabricated to suit the actual pipework, valves and flanges. We work as a subcontractor to main contractors and M&E contractors across the UK, quoting from your drawings and a free survey.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work in a live boiler room?

Yes, with phasing — systems are isolated section by section in agreement with your mechanical contractor. Larger works are planned around the heating season where possible.

Can you clad over existing insulation?

Where the existing insulation is sound and dry, yes. Wet or damaged sections are stripped and replaced first, because cladding over wet insulation traps corrosion against the pipe.

Do you work from our drawings and specification?

Yes. We quote from your issued drawings and specification, then confirm every run with a site measure before fabrication. A free survey is available across the UK.

Do you work nationwide?

Yes. We are based in Milton Keynes and deliver boiler room cladding packages nationwide as a subcontractor.

What materials and standards do you work to?

High-temperature mineral wool sections under stucco aluminium sheet, with ProClad or PIB finishes where specified. Thicknesses follow BS 5422 and TICA guidance.
